Update: Debbee has Done it Again!
|
Our
local florist is back in the ring with a state competition
and has
taken first
place at the
sixth
annual Arts & Flowers event at the Phoenix Art Museum.
Debbee
McDonald, owner of Finishing Touch Flowers earned First
Place at Phoenix Art Museum's 2010 Arts & Flowers
Event. Sixty-five florists were invited to create a floral "interpretation" of
a piece of art on display in the museum. The 6500 visitors
and displays of fresh flower arrangements "virtually" bring
the museum to life and help to keep it alive!
Debbee
chose to bring to life Al Held's Piza II. A vibrant,
geometric, painting on canvas. |

"Most
Creative" Floral Design
There
were four days of lectures, workshops, luncheons,
demonstrations, and a garden tour of Phoenix' historic
Enacanto/Palmcroft District.
The
65 floral presentations were judged by a prestigious,
professional panel of judges from among the floral
industry,the art world and the museum. To name
just a couple, the judges included Lila Harnett,
founder
of Home and Garden and Art Table. Gail Chronister,
AIFD, AzMF, AzMF Instructor/Designer was one
of the judging representatives from the floral
industry. There
were six other distinguished judges, as well.
